Once again, the Summer Cruise was a resounding success. It was a beautiful summer night, and a fun time was had by all. This year, two accomplished law enforcement executives were honored for outstanding career achievement, and several college scholarships were awarded to the children/grandchildren of our membership. Patrick Kelleher, former NYPD First Deputy Commissioner and current Director of Worldwide Security for Merrill Lynch, was recognized for his efforts to improve and revitalize the AAPLE organization with the 2008 Robert Colangelo Award. Assistant Chief Joseph Fox, Commanding Officer, Patrol Borough Brooklyn South was named the 2008 AAPLE Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for his steadfast dedication to the NYPD.
