President’s Message:                                                                   March 2008

Our February luncheon guest speaker was the Honorable Paul Crotty of the United States District Court, Southern District.  Judge Crotty shared many of his experiences, in the various capacities that he worked during his long and illustrious career.  Most notably, Judge Crotty regaled us with stories from the bench and provided insight into the role of the courts in America today.  I would like to thank Judge Crotty for taking the time to inform our membership about the challenges facing a U.S. District Court Judge.

Our March luncheon guest speaker will be film actor and retired NYPD Captain, Joseph Lisi.  Joe has acted in movies, television series and on Broadway.  He has appeared in the films, Summer of Sam, 15 Minutes, and For the Love of the Game.  He has also made appearances in episodes of Law and Order, Third Watch, NYPD Blue, and The Sopranos.  More recently, he has acted in the 2002 Tony Award winner for the Best Play, Take Me Out.  Joe had an illustrious 24 year NYPD career, which included his time spent as a Lieutenant Commander and Captain of the Narcotics Division as well as the Commanding Officer of the 17th Precinct.

In order to serve our membership more efficiently, we are moving away from US Postal mail service, to this wonderful technology called “email and the internet.”  If you did not receive this newsletter by email, it is either because your email address is not up to date in our files, or you requested to receive it this way.  If you need to update your email address, please do so by clicking the “Update Profile” link on our website, at http://www.aaple.org.  While you peruse the website, if you haven’t paid your 2008 dues, I encourage you to do so by clicking the “Renew Membership” or “Membership: Join AAPLE” link.  I would like to thank all the members who continue to maintain their membership.
