President's Message:                                                                                                August 2008

I hope everyone is enjoying what is left of the summer.

Once again, the Summer Cruise was a resounding success. It was a beautiful summer night, and a fun time was had by all. This year, two accomplished law enforcement executives were honored for outstanding career achievement, and several college scholarships were awarded to the children/grandchildren of our membership.  Patrick Kelleher, former NYPD First Deputy Commissioner and current Director of Worldwide Security for Merrill Lynch, was recognized for his efforts to improve and revitalize the AAPLE organization with the 2008 Robert Colangelo Award.  Assistant Chief Joseph Fox, Commanding Officer, Patrol Borough Brooklyn South was named the 2008 AAPLE Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for his steadfast dedication to the NYPD.  The 2008 AAPLE College Scholarship winners were Kevin Callaghan, Kieran Carley, Cassandra Clapsaddle, Carla J. Losak, Melissa Lotti, Joseph T. McGrann, Caitlin Rolston, Shannon Vlack, Amanda Watenberg and Adriana Zacharakos.  Congratulations to this year’s honorees and scholarship recipients.

The Annual Golf Outing is fast approaching.  It will be held on September 22, at The Village Club at Lake Success.  You may register through our online registration or by  filling out the registration form at the bottom of the flier and mailing it along with your payment.  You can also make reservations by calling our “hotline” at 917-579-7593.  Registration will be processed on a first come, first serve basis. Openings are limited.  I look forward to seeing you all there.

Our next luncheon will be in October at the American Stock Exchange.  Details regarding the date and speaker will be in the next newsletter.

Once again, enjoy the remainder of the summer and I'll see you in September.

I would like to thank our sponsors whose support and generosity has led to the success of our organization's events.

Sincerely

Rafael Pineiro
