    The speaker for the October luncheon, = Deputy=20 Secretary for Public Safety Michael Balboni,=20 sparked the assembly by discussing Governor = Spitzer=92s=20 controversial plan to issue driver=92s licenses to illegal aliens. = He stood=20 his ground while our members raised complex questions regarding = security=20 as it pertains to boarding airplanes and accessing government=20 facilities. It was = a very=20 informative and refreshing exchange of ideas.

   =20 Attendance = for the=20 luncheon was outstanding. = It=20 was great to see such a large turnout and thanks to a little = =93fancy=20 footwork=94 we were able to accommodate everyone. However, in the = future, it=20 will be necessary to RSVP by calling our =93hotline=94 at = 917-579-7593, or by=20 email at breilly@aaple.org. We will of course make = every=20 attempt to accommodate all of our guests. Your cooperation will = ensure our=20 success.

  =20   The November AAPLE Annual Seminar will feature Deputy = Commissioner=20 of Operations Phil T. Pulaski, who will discuss the effects of DNA = technology within the law enforcement community. As in the past, there is = no charge=20 to members. = Non-members will=20 be charged $40.00, which may be applied to next year=92s = membership=20 dues.

     In an = effort to=20 reduce our organizational expenses, beginning February 2008, the = AAPLE newsletter will be forwarded to the = membership,=20 via email. In order to facilitate = this=20 process, members should ensure that we have their current email = addresses=20 on file.
