President’s Message:                                                                   February 2008

As you know, our Post-Holiday Cocktail Party was held on January 29, 2008, at the 101 Club.  It was well attended and the overwhelming consensus described it as “an elegant affair.”  The 101 Club provided a refined atmosphere, a gourmet buffet, and a panoramic view of Park Avenue.  The attendees contributed an enormous wealth of diversification, for the exchange of ideas, as it pertains to law enforcement professionals.  I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this event.

Our February luncheon guest speaker will be the Honorable Paul Crotty, United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York.  Prior to being appointed to this position by President Bush, Judge Crotty served as the president of Verizon New York and Connecticut.  As region president for Verizon, Judge Crotty was responsible for government relations, regulatory affairs and community relations.  His tenure involved a leadership role in coordinating with public officials during the restoration of services after the September 11th terrorist attacks.  Prior to joining Verizon, Judge Crotty was the Corporation Counsel during Mayor Giuliani’s first term.  He also served for four years under Mayor Koch as the Commissioner of Finance and the Commissioner of Housing.  Judge Crotty is a graduate of Notre Dame and the Cornell Law School.  He also proudly served as an officer in the United States Navy.  Please RSVP no later than February 8, 2008, as indicated above.

I would like to thank everyone who has remained current with their membership dues.  If you did not receive your membership card at the Post-Holiday Cocktail Party, one will be included with this mailing.  If you have not had a chance to remit your dues, I encourage you to either use the self addressed, dues remittance envelope, included with this mailing, or renew your membership on-line by visiting our website at http://www.aaple.org.  Membership cards for all who renew after this mailing will be forwarded by the next mailing.
